What Types Of Medium Can Computer Forensics Be Used On?
Computer forensics is a very ideal science for most electronic devices.  Unlike the crimes of yesteryear, today, the computer is one of the most essential tools in the fight against crime.  Yet, it is not just your average computer that can be used against a criminal if there is evidence found on it.  There are many data holding devices out there that can be seized and used against you in a court of law. 

Those that are in computer forensics know that virtually any piece of electronic equipment that holds or has the ability to hold information can and will be used in a computer forensics screening.  Here, they will pull off all available information, even information that you believe to be gone a long time ago.  When they do this, they will secure the answers to their questions.

• Fax Machines:  They don’t just print off information and forget it.  They can store information that is ideal for an investigation.
• Smart Cards:  These can contain valuable information to those that are using them and computer forensics can easily pull it off.
• Caller ID Service:  Information stored can often be retrieved, sometimes after the unit has been deleted or turned off.

Virtually any unit that can record, log, or otherwise hold information is capable of being investigated by computer forensic teams.
